‘Living is a constant process of deciding what we are going to do’ José Ortega y Gassett

Anthropology brings together the work of five textile artists exploring the emotional and physical aspects of life and death. The exhibition comprises of both installation and sculptural pieces, with an emphasis placed on material choice and process. This tactile approach is evident in their careful manipulation of materials. Using a wide range of techniques, each artist responds to a specific element of the human condition ranging from genetic defects to the body’s struggle for survival in extreme circumstances.

Áine Byrne, Chloe Lyons, Ciara O’Hare, Liobhan Clancy and Lorraine Monagle are currently completing their final year at the National College of Art and Design. Throughout their four years studying at NCAD, they have engaged in a wide range of projects such as working with designers Michael Van der Ham and Mirjam Rouden in London and a 6-month residency in Roveniemi, Finland.
