Soft Saga Catherine Barragry (Syncopathy)

Soft Saga Catherine Barragry (Syncopathy)

04th Jul 2013

7pm

New work by Catherine Barragry.
Duration: a film’s length.

For the third part of the Syncopathy series, Catherine Barragry will create an offsite event starting at the Joinery on 04th July at 7pm.

Unfolding like a dream, or an unscripted film; soft saga uses gestural contagion to subtly distort spacetime. While traveling toward this event, please prepare by imagining that you will not return home for a long time.

Catherine Barragry generates intense, intimate gestures through performance, video, image and sculpture. The works are fragile; on the edge of existing, and can seem both ancient and nascent. They are drawn from insular inner worlds of human and animal and expansive territories of politics, evolution and becoming. More recently there has been a shift in Catherine’s practice toward embedded events, where the gesture becomes about creating contingent cultural possibilities. The works are low-key happenings and occurrences drawn together using amateur methods. They transiently inhabit liminal sites and practices.
