The Enemies – ABSOLUT FRINGE
Miranda Driscoll and Michael Fleming
9 September – 11 September

If you were given the time to make something at the risk of letting it disappear forever, would you take it? Can an artist make work in isolation, knowing that no one will ever see it, hear it, read it? Such is the dilemma facing condemned author and playwright, Jaromir Hladik, for whom time stands still in Jorge Luis Borges’ story ‘the Secret Miracle’. Using projected visuals and music, collaborative artists Miranda Driscoll and Michael Fleming lead viewers through ‘the Enemies’, a multi-roomed installation, revealing the artists’ response to the fantastical nature of Borges’ story, Hladik’s isolated universe and inevitable end.

The thirty minute piece is made up of thousands of still and moving images with both live and recorded music.
