The Cloud of Unknowing

The Cloud of Unknowing

22nd May 2014

The Cloud of Unknowing is a presentation of work by Gary Murphy on Thursday the 22nd of May at 7pm, following a week long residency at The Joinery. The event is a window into the process of the artists work.

Gary Murphy is a Cork artist who graduated from the Crawford College of Art and Design in 2013. His practice, interdisciplinary by nature, crosses the boundaries of sound, film and performance, often questioning the autonomy of lived experience. Responding to his surrounding environment Murphy’s work explores, challenges and interrogates received tradition, systems of communication and the idiosyncratic nature of human perception.

From the moment of birth we become both puppet and performer in an as yet unwritten history, which is determined by the past, unfolding in the present and at the same time shaping a future that has yet to come. We are both rippling outwards and being rippled from without.
