The Joinery is happy to announce that Cork based artist Gary Murphy has been selected for a week long residency that will take place at the end of April. This residency gives the opportunity to emerging artists working within a variety of mediums to utilise the space and to explore, experiment and develop their practice within a gallery context.

Gary Murphy is a Cork based artist who graduated from the Crawford College in 2013. He is also a trained sound engineer and his practice, interdisciplinary by nature, crosses the boundaries of sound, film and performance. Responding to his surrounding environment Murphy’s work explores, challenges and interrogates systems of communication and the idiosyncratic nature of human perception. Elements of chance, experimentation and an interest in the subjective experience of the viewer are critical to his work.

Gary was selected by Deborah Madden and Cliona Ni Laoi as part of the Graduate Residency series.
