Dutch-English Songwriter Richard Bolhuis set up House of Cosy Cushions in Amsterdam in 2004. From 2005 until 2010 Richard Bolhuis lived in Dublin, where House of Cosy Cushions formed into a Dutch – Irish collaboration which it still is. The band, currently based in Holland and Ireland has formed around a group of core players (Richard Bolhuis – vocals & guitar, Stephen Kiernan – drums, Saskia Meys – viola, Sophie Zeyl – vocals & tambourine) and an extended family of guest musicians who drift in and out. The band experiments with folk, punk, blues and rock and a wide variety of additional instruments (e.g. trombone, harmonium, piano, clarinet). The album ‘Animal Dream’ was released in 2008 and in 2009 House of Cosy Cushions released a collaborative limited vinyl with the Irish based singer Katie Kim. They are currently working on their new album with John Haggis.
