One Night Stands is a short series of one-off performances at the Joinery by individual theatre-makers. Readings, performances or explorations of works in progress; the series will encourage each performer to experiment and develop their work in an intimate setting, followed by a discussion with the audience.

Sonya Kelly is an Irish writer and actor. On October 17th Sonya will do a public reading from Anywhere Else but Here, a work in progress, followed by a feedback and Q&A session with the audience. Anywhere Else but Here is an auto-biographical narrative.

Sonya has performed with all the major Irish companies including the Gate Theatre and Druid Theatre. She is a cast member of R.T. E.’s sketch show, The Savage Eye which is scheduled to shoot a fouth series this November. Her solo show, The Wheelchair on My Face: a look back at a myopic childhood, won a Scotsman Fringe First Award for new writing at the Edinburgh Fringe 2012. The show has played in over 50 venues and will tour to Theater 59E59 in New York in September of this year. She also a regular contributor to the arts show, Arena on RTE Radio 1.

Sonya is currently working on a new solo piece called Anywhere Else But Here, a comic narrative about travelling to Australia to meet her new inlaws. She is also developing a number of projects for film and TV.
