Irish producer Somadrone has been making electronic music since 1997. Member of Dublin’s cult band, Redneck Manifesto, Somadrone has produced four records and has toured in both Europe and the US. His last record, Depth of Field received critical acclaim and was compared to the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Sylvian and Brian Eno. His latest record, The First Wave, recorded between 2010-2013 in San Francisco, Dublin and Brooklyn NY, incorporates analogue drum machines, synthesizers, guitar and vocals that results in a cross-pollinating, genre-less, electronic sound-scape.
For the show at the Joinery, Somadrone will be playing a completely improvised show with two synthesizers, a drum machine and some echo machines.
“The giants of 20th century minimal composition — Philip Glass and Steve Reich — are obvious influences here, but O’Connor is no mere copyist” – Irish Independent 4/5.
“Detachment that we find in Steve Reich or Brian Eno circa Music for Airports” – Wire Magazine
Cork producer Ellll uses heavily manipulated samples, minimal beats and dark textures. Drone, noise and sparse beat orientated sounds.
Ellll’‘s somber, minimal approach to electronics has drawn comparison to Pan Sonic and Andy Stott’s quieter moments.
