Sounding the City – Anthony Kelly & David Stalling

This one day workshop explores listening to and recording of sounds from the urban environment using various microphone techniques. After an initial briefing, participants will embark on a soundwalk where they can make a number of field recordings. On return to the Joinery, recordings are processed and edited, followed by a discussion on the nature of field recordings and how they can be used as documentation or as source material for creative projects.

Participants should bring their own laptops and headphones with mini stereo jack plugs. Editing software and recording equipment for the workshop will be provided, however, participants may bring their own recording equipment if they wish.
