Suzanne Walsh - This Time Tomorrow I Sang

28th Jun 2012 - 30th Jun 2012

Performance/Opening 28/06/ 18.30
Closing/Artist response 30/06/ 16.00
Open 12-6pm daily

This Time Tomorrow I Sang is a performance/installation that explores crossovers between art and music, both in the multidisciplinary practice of the artist and that of The Joinery itself as a gallery/music venue.

Using the format of a gig as a starting point, the performance will take place, not within the standard time/place setting of a music event, but within the framework of the gallery. Throughout the duration of the exhibition, sculptural remnants will be left within the gallery space as traces of previous performative acts.

Walsh’s performance and sculptural constructs will use the language of music in an attempt to undermine established order or control, to deterritorialize the gallery space, through sound.

As a closing, artist and musician Paul Maguire will be delivering a response to Walsh’s performance/exhibition in The Joinery on Saturday 30th at 4pm.

Walsh is a singer, musician and artist based in Dublin. She recently graduated from the National College of Art and Design. She sings and writes with various acts, including Brian Conniffe and Diarmuid MacDiarmada, Sabre Series, and E+S=B. She has been a regular contributor improvising in both solo and collaborative contexts in the Joinery’s project space. Recent shows include Prelude to Nothing in the Lab, scoring/performing work for Michael Higgins’ Poorhouse Revisited in the Joinery. Walsh has also contributed writing to Critical Bastard magazine.
